Sacred Women's Circles Will Continue
In 2006 and 2007, we sponsored, The Sacred Women's Circle at the annual meeting of the United Nations Commission on the Global Status of Women, which meets at the UN Church Center each year in late February or early March. We regret that we were unable to sponsor one this year due to some logistical problems.
Participants at the past two Sacred Circle spoke and offered words of hope from their cultural and faith traditions about empowering and raising the general stature of women worldwide. Women from all over the world, Africa, China, The Caribbean, Europe, South America, and The Middle East have participated.
We were pleased to sponsor The Sacred Women's Circle as part of this official UN activity for because it allowed us to bring groups with varied cultures and faith traditions together to demonstrate that religion can be a source of uniting and not dividing the global community. So we pledge to hold our third Scared Circle next year.
